A Saturday in the Culver City Arts District: The Arts Festival Is October 10
This Saturday, October 10, the Culver City Arts Festival fills the Arts District from 11 AM to 6 PM. It is the eighth year, it is free, and Washington Boulevard is closed between La Cienega and Hutchison Avenue for the day.
I am Nicole Strober, a REALTOR® with Compass in Los Angeles. Culver City is where I do a lot of my work, and days like this tell you more about a neighborhood than a listing photo does.
What Is Happening at the Culver City Arts Festival?
According to Culver City Crossroads, the day includes live art-making, artisan vendors, nonstop music, food trucks, and beer gardens. The art galleries have special installations, and there is a pop-up marketplace for arts and crafts.
The Culver Arts Foundation, which runs the festival, says it expects more than 15,000 visitors. There is also a live mural demonstration this year, with a $5,000 grant for the artist and the theme “Culver City Connections.” Up to 10 artists receive booth grants, which include a free booth and a $100 stipend.
Why I Pay Attention to Events Like This
If you are thinking about buying in Culver City, go down to the Arts District and check out this event. Notice how the street is set up, how people gather, and what small businesses line this corridor. I wouldn’t say that one specific festival changes what a home is worth. What I would tell you is it shows you what the community has to offer, and that is part of what you are buying into.
If you are a seller and you’ve lived in Culver City for a long time, you probably already know how events like these are part of what makes Culver City such a special place.
One More Date: Hip & Historic Halloween
On Sunday, October 25, from 4 to 6 PM, Downtown Culver City hosts its annual Hip & Historic Halloween. According to the Downtown Culver City Business Association, you get treats from participating businesses. The page did not list a cost.
How to Get to the Festival
You can take the Metro E Line, which a lot of people still call the Expo Line, to Ivy Station in Culver City. The stop itself is officially called Culver City station. Most people come on bikes, and a lot of people walk over from the station or from nearby. There is also street parking around the festival, and you can park in the parking garage at Ivy Station. Check the festival page for any updates before you go.
